Ainstein is a tech company that makes products for drone operators and the aerospace industry. This week, it ventured into youth sports for the first time with an all-new handheld sports radar.

The TAG One Sports Radar device tracks pitch speed and exit velocity in order to give youth and amateur baseball players access to the same pitching and swing metrics used by pros. Ainstein launched a new company, TAG Sports, to market the device.

It’s the first consumer product from Ainstein, which touts a core team with projects funded by NASA and the U.S. National Science Foundation.

At $399, the TAG One Sports Radar can track ball speed to 225 mph and from up to 130 feet away. The device syncs with an app that delivers real-time feedback and AI-enhanced coaching.

A trainer, coach, or athlete can mount the radar unit to a phone, tripod, or a backstop. The device also filters out background movement to isolate the pitch or swing.

Finally, a custom app connects to iOS and Android devices and offers video review, performance logs, and a chatbot assistant called AiCE (AI Coaching Expert) that gives customized training tips.

The product was announced this week.

Battery life runs up to six hours, with USB-C support for external packs. With TAG One, Ainstein steps out of the lab and into the field. The move hints at a future where radar tracking and AI coaching are just a normal part of practice.
