I’ve had my share of injuries playing sports, and now I’m extra careful with my extremities whenever I play basketball at my local gym. I’ve been even more cautious recently as the gym’s court has felt particularly slippery. This is a story every hooper can relate to.

One company is trying to solve this, though. They’re using spray technology to revolutionize traction for athletes on-the-court, hoping to decrease injuries due to slipping and give players the upper hand in terms of quickness.

EDGE, a New York-based sports gear brand, produces a biodegradable, non-toxic grip spray designed to restore and enhance the traction of athletic shoes.

Their formula reportedly increases outsole grip by up to 25% according to lab testing. EDGE says its products are “sweeping” division 1 college athletics and benefit athletes using a variety of surfaces, including basketball, volleyball, dance and fitness, and futsal courts.

One testimonial comes from Canadian slam dunk champion and viral Youtuber Jordan Kilganon, who said “I own at least 60 pairs of shoes and EDGE made me realize I could have just bought the grip I was chasing.”

With holiday season in full force, more and more athletes will be playing and training indoors on courts that have probably seen better days. Great traction not only helps prevent a dangerous slip and fall, it also gives players that competitive “edge” during the game.

Customers can buy single bottles of the spray or bundle packages, such as a “Grip System,” on sale. The system includes both the spray and a mat that helps lock in the spray for maximum traction. The “Grip System” bundle is currently discounted from $140 to $69.99.
